Website Content is valuable because it makes or breaks your website’s usability and your profitability.

Every website is unique, however there are some basic building blocks that most, if not all websites should have.

These content items allow us to communicate clearly what our business is about and how we can help our ideal client or customer.

Use this guide as the starting point for writing your website copy. Not all items may apply to your business, but you may be inspired to add or create content based on what you read here.

I always suggest working with a copywriter to have the best copy possible, but if you are able to be very thoughtful about your content you can do a great job of communicating your business value without hiring out.

Step one: Determine what website pages your need on your site

What website pages are needed to communicate what we do, who we do it for and how they hire us or buy our services?

Some of these pages will involve communicating information about us or our company so they can feel confident in our abilities, and other pages will communicate information about our products and services.

At minimum all websites should have a Home page and a Contact page.

Most websites should have an About page (or Our Mission). For Service based businesses you will want to discuss the service you offer and who you do it for. For product based businesses you will need a shop page.

A blog page is a great idea for almost any business to communicate your expertise and to help you get found by search engines.
